The first week of The Hundred 2024 has seen some incredible individual performances by South East Stars players.
Tuesday’s opener saw Oval Invincibles and Stars duo Paige Scholfield and Alice Capsey star with the bat. Opening batter Scholfield led the way for the Invincibles, scoring 71 from 40 balls. Paige and Capsey – who scored 52 from 40 balls, put on 90 for the second wicket as the hosts amassed 150/5 from their 100 balls. The Invincibles won by 45 runs with Scholfield taking home the Match Hero award.
Overseas wicketkeeper batter Georgia Redmayne scored 45 as the London Spirit beat the Southern Brave six wickets in a thriller at Southampton. In the same game, South East Stars spin bowler Tilly Corteen-Coleman became the youngest player in the history of the competition – and the youngest wicket taker! Tilly has Australian great Meg Lanning caught and bowled to create history and add another victim to her incredible summer.
Match Three saw another Match Hero award for a Stars player. This time, England opener Sophia Dunkley smashed 69 not out as Welsh Fire defeated the Manchester Originals by seven wickets. Dunkley – who has batted her way back into the England team this summer, hit two huge sixes to help her side to victory.
On Friday, Stars captain Bryony Smith scored 22 at the top of the order as her Trent Rockets side beat the Northern Superchargers by 20 runs at Headingley.
On Saturday, Georgia Redmayne pulled of an incredible piece of wicketkeeping as London Spirit made it two wins from two against Birmingham Phoenix. The play won the ‘Play of the Day’ award.
Swift. Sharp. Superb.

Sophia Dunkley continued her brutal form at the top of the order for the Fire with a quick-fire 35. Phoebe Franklin added 8 not out as the Fire finished on 116/5. Stars seam bowler Ryana MacDonald-Gay added two more deliveries to her growing highlights reel when she bowled Sarah Bryce and Georgia Elwiss. Capsey expertly went about the chase, mixing quick running and big shots to score 59 of the Invincibles’ 118 runs.
